Our first episode after yet another hiatus was published a few days ago and highlights most of the details of why the podcast was put on hold. I’m going to fill in the last bit of details a little here as we didn’t really have a chance in that episode to lay out everything that’s happened.
For starters, check out Julie’s latest blog entry for her side of the story. Essentially, after getting injured a lot of things were changing about our paths forward. She was no longer looking to open her own business, and with the sudden change in wind and the problems that we needed to navigate I faced one of a long series of existential crises. One such crisis was the type of business I really wanted to start.
While being an electrician for 20 years has been rewarding and something that I truly loved, I was tired of the performance I felt I had to give. It was, in essence, a wonderful puzzle to solve and as such fit my ADD personality greatly. Since the puzzle was no longer challenging to me and I’m not one to enjoy having to prove myself on a daily basis to those around me (I know who I am and that’s all that matters), contracting – even in maintenance this is true – is just not where my heart is anymore. As such, trying to sell consulting to people who naturally believe their way is better than everyone else’s is not where I want to spend my time.
I’ve been searching for the answer to this question since: so where do I start in regards to becoming an entrepreneur if it’s not consulting. I believe business acquisition might be that avenue with the end goal in spiritual and non-denominational guidance and coaching.
In the process of working out all of these questions, we decided the basement wasn’t a great studio location and have moved the studio back to the second floor and our spare bedroom. Unfortunately, every time we change the studio we face technical challenges… it’s like learning how to record a podcast all over again. It’s frustrating, but in the end will be worth it.
That being said, I would ask that you all be patient with us as we work out the challenges of yet another studio move. Hopefully we’ll be all set shortly.
